The gospel and the church

I notice with growing surprise at statements from renowned pastors , church builders and church leaders that the gospel must be adapted to the modern man in the 2000s . The church , they say, should be adapted to the " outside " so they can be "pulled" into the community. Worthy objective , but what does the Bible say and thus God, the Lord .

In an article [1] Paul Alexander said : Basically, think large churches that exist to reach people outside of the faith. They do not believe that the church is for Christians, but the church is Christians and they exist for people who are not "in" yet.

It is true that Christians are to evangelize and bring as many as possible into the kingdom of God. There is a direct call from Jesus Christ Himself. No one can be mistaken about this . The statement is an indication that "the Church is not for Christians / believers." This gives an impression that Christians have no "home" , ie no original justification for the church. Church originally comes from the Greek word ekklesia [2] , which means " called out from the world and to God , the outcome is Church ".

I insist that the church is for believers , for their gatherings, education and edification. Something else you can not read out of the Bible. The church must work for the faithful to be their base so that new converts  can be brought into the church. How would it look to the Church takes such a shape so that a new believer does not see a difference between where he comes from ? Having the same values as in the world, almost the same music and song , the same style of music , secular values.

I argue that the greatest of all evangelists is Apostle Paul . So what did he do? Started churches wherever he came . [3] It was part of his calling as a result of his preaching and testimony , that Jesus came to earth , born of the Virgin Mary , showed us the Father's nature , taught and prophesied , voluntarily allowed himself to be crucified , gave his blood as a final sacrifice for sins for all , rose from the dead and was alive taken up in the sky. Are not these things written down as a testimony of eyewitnesses ? Absolutely ! So were these congregations / churches adapted to the world ? Hardly. Based on some parts of letters of Paul and John  , we can eg read two examples:

And be not conformed to this world : but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind , that ye may prove what is the will of God , what is good and acceptable and perfect that pleases him. ( Rom12 : 2 )

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world . If anyone loves the world , love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world, the flesh and the desires of the eyes and the pride of life , it comes not from the Father but from the world. 17 The world and its desires pass away , but whoever does the will of God abides forever . ( 1John 2.15-17 )

I have personally heard from the assistant pastor of a church I belonged to: "the Church is not for you but for the unconverted persons" and therefore  this church itself adapted and was made " seeker-friendly ", ie, there would be nothing objectionable at all visually (no cross ) , in the life of the church ( secular music in connection with religious services ) or in the sermons. But the gospel is " offensive " . It says you must be born again , repent and believe (trust) on the Lord Jesus Christ that He will deliver you to heaven and eternal life on the last day.

Many churches today are acting according to their main purpose is to grow numerically . One reason that it provides a greater financial base . Just to get people in as members and tithers means all is well. But are they all saved? What is their fruit look like? Do they live the same life as the world and of the world? Do they work for their sancification and holiness ?

One obvious true conclusion must be that the church is for believers / Christians, as a testimony to unbelievers . For those of you who know that you live in and of the world, even if you call yourself a Christian , then there is a wonderful message for you . Repent from your evil ways, and faith in Jesus Christ , which means to " be born again " (John 3)
